A Compliance Schedule is an official document issued by your local council that serves as the master list for a building's safety. It explicitly catalogs every single Specified System active in the building and dictates the exact testing standards, frequency of inspections, and performance metrics they must satisfy.
Any commercial or multi-residential building containing a specified system (lifts, fire alarms, exit signs, etc.) must have a valid Compliance Schedule. You will specifically need to update or review yours if you are undertaking interior office fit-outs, building alterations, or system changes that require a building consent.
Under Sections 100 to 103 of the Building Act 2004, a building cannot legally operate without a Compliance Schedule if specified systems are present. It is the core framework that dictates your building's entire annual maintenance plan. For brand-new building builds, it is generated and issued by the council right alongside your formal Code Compliance Certificate (CCC). If your physical building changes but your Compliance Schedule isn't updated to match, your final BWoF cannot be legally processed.
